NORWICH— The Norwich Pony league team hosted Schenevus on Monday, where the two teams battled in a high-scoring affair. Norwich, who trailed 13-10 going into the bottom of the fifth and took a 14-13 lead before the game was called after two hours.

The game is expected to be resumed on July 16 to finish to the seventh inning.

Schenevus scored seven runs in the first before both teams would battle back and forth. Norwich was down 10-7 after two before tying it up at 10 in the bottom of the fourth inning. Norwich outscored Schenevus 4-3 in the bottom of the fifth.

With two outs, Lucas Pope hit an inside-the-park home run, which gave Norwich the lead and scored Jadiel Jorge, who had an RBI single to right field.

Jorge, Pope, Joey Portelli, and Koltyn Collins all led the team with two hits as Collins led the team with four RBIs. Jorge and Pope both drove in two runs each.

Collins, Rocky Burke, Alex Beiu, and Șam Boland all reached base on two walks in the win.

Collins got the start on the mound, going an inning, allowing eight runs (seven earned) on four hits, five walks, and a strikeout. Jadiel Jorge went three and two thirds, where he allowed five runs (one earned) on two hits, four walks, and struck out four batters.

Jorge could retake the mound during this game to add on to his stats or another pitcher could take over.

Norwich is still looking for their first win of the season and heads to Unadilla Valley for a doubleheader on Thursday, starting at 5 p.m.
