NORWICH— The 2026 Norwich Gus Macker 3 on 3 basketball tournament registration is ongoing! It is the 29th year being in downtown Norwich on July 11 and 12. With just over 100 teams signed up so far, per YMCA Executive Director, Jamey Mullen, the registration deadline is fastly approaching on Monday, June 22.
“ The registration numbers so far continue to show that the tournament is a youth event with over 300 youth players signed up so far and 80 plus adults,” Mullen said. “ We have seen a low number of teams in the past 20 plus years and then the number spikes from now until the deadline.”
Mullen added that he also brought a lot of ideas back from covering a few Macker tournaments in Michigan and Ohio.
“I brought back things I’ve learned from other tournaments, such as online volunteer sign up, which the link is on our Gus Macker Basketball Norwich, New York Facebook page, and Ohio had milk crates with all the supplies needed for the scorekeepers, officials, and of course, the basketball to make it easier to carry everything,” Mullen said.
Mullen said there is always a need for officials, scorekeepers, registration volunteers, people to set up and tear down the tournament, and water runners.

“We are excited to bring it back for its 29th year,” Mullen said. “It’s nice to be downtown and we won’t break too much from the structure and form of the tournament. There will be the Thursday music in the park, Friday set up, registration, and BlueOx shootout before the tournament on Saturday and Sunday. So, get your teams in now.”
