SCHENEVUS—The 2026 Otsenango PONY league season kicked off on Thursday, where Unadilla Valley traveled to take on Schenevus. PONY league is for baseball players 16 years of age and younger.
UV fell 11-1 on Thursday in the first game of the summer.
Schenevus got on the board with two runs in the first, added a run in the bottom of the second before a big six-run fifth inning.
UV answered back with a run in the top of the sixth as Kasen Cox led the inning off with a double, stole third, and came in to score the Storm's lone run before the final out.
Schenevus scored its final two runs in their last at-bats.
Cox and Urijah Drake had UV's only hits as Blake Billbrough, Teagin Eccleston, Paul Ruffles, and Jake Favinger reached base on walks.
Eccleston went four innings on the mound, allowing three unearned runs on two hits, three walks, and struck out six batters.
Johnny Favinger worked two innings in relief, allowing eight runs (three earned) on five hits, three walks, and three strikeouts.
UV (0-1) heads to Norwich on Monday at 6 p.m.
