ONEONTA - The annual Daniel B. Swift Scholar Recognition Program dinner was held at SUNY Oneonta’s Hunt Ballroom Monday night. 40 area student scholars and their teacher mentors from DCMO BOCES and ONC BOCES campuses and component schools gathered with their families, school administrators and community sponsors to receive recognition for the outstanding scholastic achievement of the students and the significant and beneficial influence of the mentors. Students and mentors received certificates from their school administrators and heard from a number of speakers, including keynote speaker Ryan DeLaney, Vice President of Operations for The Raymond Corporation. Music was provided by The Little Delaware Music Ensemble, under the direction of Uli Speth.
The Scholar Recognition Program was begun in 2002 and is named for the retired publisher of The Daily Star, Danel B. Swift. Today, the program is managed by a planning committee of representatives from DCMO BOCES, ONC BOCES, lead sponsor NBT Insurance, SFCU, The Daily Star, and participating school superintendents. The recognition dinner is held each year in May.
