ONEONTA—The Norwich Purple Tornado track and field team competed in a dual meet against Oneonta on Tuesday. Oneonta won the meet as its girls defeated Norwich 104-33 and the boys 79-59.
Girls:
Jordan Hammond `took second in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:15.90, behind Oneonta’s leading 69.80. Norwich’s Tristan Monroe took third with a time of 1:19.80.
Monroe also competed in the 200 meter dash, where she came in second with a time of 31.60 seconds, behind Oneonta’s 28.10. Nora Collins took third with a time of 33.90 seconds.
Natalie Phillips took third in the 3000 meter run with a time of 14:34. She took second in the shot put with a throw of 24 feet, nine and a half inches.
Skylar Romberg came in second in the discus with a throw of 85 feet, nine inches with Olivia Palmer in third.
Norwich swept the high jump event as Reagan Decker earned the victory, clearing four feet, six inches.
Fern Farrow cleared four feet, four inches for second place as Jordan Slentz came in third, clearing four feet.
Norwich also won the 1600 meter relay with a time of 6:04.
Malea Sutton tied for second in the pole vault, clearing six feet, six inches and ran to a third place finish in the 800 meters with a time of 3:04.40.
Boys:
Connor Marshall took second in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 16.90 seconds and took third in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:13.40.
Marshall also competed in both the high and triple jump. He won the triple jump with a jump of 37 feet, one and a quarter inch with Zach Monroe in second with a jump of 33 feet, six and a half inches.
Kassen Stubb won the high jump, clearing five feet, eight inches with Marshall in second, clearing five feet, six inches. Stubb came in second in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.70 seconds, behind Oneonta’s 11.60. Cameron Carnachan took third in the same event with a time of 12 seconds.
Stubb took second in the long jump with a jump of 19 feet, four inches with Malik Eccleston in third with a jump of 18 feet, four and a half inches.
The Norwich boys as a team won the 400 meter relay with a time of 46.20 seconds and took second in the 1600 meter relay with a time of 4:13.80.
Nic Sutton earned the victory in the 3200 meter run with a top time of 11:54.10 and took second in the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:52.20.
Jayden Zornow finished second in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:05.90 as Carnachan took third in the 200 meter dash with a time of 24.50 seconds.
Kaden Downey won the shot put event with a throw of 45 feet with Quentin Berg in third with a throw of 36 feet, and 3/4 inch.
Dean Westervelt earned the victory in the discus with a top throw of 135 feet, 10 inches with Downey in second (124-2).
