BAINBRIDGE— The Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats softball team hosted Afton in the MAC playoffs semifinals.
Both teams had a strong regular season to face each other with the MAC Championship on the line. B-G held on to an 8-4 win to advance to the Championship game against Deposit-Hancock on Thursday.
The Bobcats scored at least one run in the first four innings with a five-run second inning.
Brenna George led the team with three hits and two RBIs while Breanna Casey had two hits and two RBIs and Alessandra Cafasso with a two-run homer, after nearly missing a grand slam on Monday.
Jayslin Henderson doubled and singled and drove in one run.
Emma Kinter, Kaylin Furgason, and Madisyn Peck each had a hit in the win.
Cafasso got the win on the mound, allowing just four hits, three walks, and had six strikeouts through four innings pitched.
Kate Baciuska pitched two innings in relief, allowing two earned runs on two hits and struck out two batters.
Railey Odell worked one inning, allowing two unearned runs on one hit.
Down 8-0, the Crimson Knights scored two runs in the top of the sixth and two in the top of the seventh, but could not make the full comeback.
Rylee Rupakus led the team with two hits as McKenna Ross had a two-run homer.
Megan Racine drove in a run on a single in the loss.
Jenna Wilson went six innings, allowing eight runs (five earned) on 11 hits, two walks, and struck out seven batters.
B-G heads to top seed Deposit-Hancock on Thursday in the championship game as Afton will take on Delhi in the consolation game.
