JOHNSON CITY— The Norwich Purple Tornado baseball team traveled to take on Johnson City on Friday. Norwich snapped its three-game win streak as its comeback fell short 4-3.

The game was scoreless until the top of the fourth inning, when an error brought in a run for Norwich to go up 1-0.

However, Johnson City scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth and one more in the bottom of the sixth, which ended up being the game-winner. Norwich made a late comeback in the top of the seventh as they scored two runs off Zack Parker’s one-out, two-run triple. Parker failed to score the game’s tying run as the Wildcats got the final two batters to strikeout, leaving Parker stranded.

Parker led the team with two hits and two RBIs as Joey Parker also had two hits. Kolbey Redenback singled in the loss.

Collin Reid got the start for Norwich on the mound. Reid went five and a third, allowing four runs (one earned) on five hits, two walks, and a strikeout. Joey Parker pitched two thirds of an inning in relief, allowing just two walks.

Norwich (5-10) hosts Seton Catholic this evening at 5 p.m.
