DEPOSIT— The Oxford-Greene baseball team traveled to take on Deposit-Hancock on Thursday afternoon. O-G came up short 2-1 in the low-scoring affair.
After two scoreless innings, Deposit-Hancock got on the board first with its two runs.
O-G scored its lone run in the top of the fifth as Trenton Drew walked with one out, moved to second on Eddie Ingraham’s single, Jackson Roth walked to load the bases. Cooper Flanagan hit into a groundout, which Drew scored. O-G had the tying run on base in the sixth and seventh innings, but failed to score.
Both teams had three hits in the contest. For O-G, Ingraham, Flanagan, and Roth had the team’s hits.
Roth, Drew, Ingraham, and Blake Barrows all reached base on walks while Drew and Nic Dodzweit reached base on hit by pitch.
Cooper Davis went four solid innings, allowing two earned runs on three hits, three walks, and struck out five batters. Drew pitched in relief with two clean innings on just 14 pitches.
O-G (5-5) hosts Unadilla Valley this afternoon at 4:30 p.m.
