NORWICH— The Norwich Purple Tornado baseball team honored its class of 2026 seniors against Johnson City on Monday night. Congratulations to Kolbey Redenback, Zac Turner, Connor White, Gavin Brown, Michael Brunick, Leland Montgomery, Jaxson Francis, Owen Olds, and Zack Parker.
After being down 3-1, Norwich came back, tied it, took the lead, and held on to win 6-3.
In the five-run bottom of the sixth inning, Owen Olds led off with an infield single and Pierce Sherman came in to run for Olds and advanced to second on a single by Michael Brunick.
Brunick stole second and both Sherman and Brunick scored on a two-run, one out single by Leland Montgomery to tie the game at three.
Connor White had a sac-fly to bring in the go-ahead run while Zack Parker drove in a run on a two-out RBI single. Parker scored on Zac Turner’s RBI single to make it 6-3.
Zack Parker went back to the mound in the top of the seventh inning, where he got the first batter to strike out swinging while the second batter walked and then Parker caught a pop up before striking out the final batter to secure the victory.
Parker went the complete game, allowing three runs (one earned) on four hits, five walks, and struck out nine batters in the win.
Norwich (4-9) heads to Chenango Forks on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
