BAINBRIDGE— On Monday, the Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats baseball team hosted Harpursville/Afton in a MAC league matchup. Both teams had met in late March in a non-league matchup the first time.
B-G swept the two game set with a 12-2 victory to improve to 7-2 on the season.
The Bobcats got start with three runs in the bottom of the first inning as Parker Buttice led off with a single to left field and scored on Connor Davy’s RBI triple. Davy came in to score on Anthony Cafasso’s RBI double to center. Cafasso scored on an error.
B-G added on in the third, fourth, and fifth innings. Key plays included another RBI for Cafasso in the bottom of the third, a bases-clearing double by Cafasso in the bottom of the fourth, an RBI single for Troy Cannistra in the bottom of the fifth, two bases-loaded walks, and a bases-loaded hit by pitch.
Harpursville/Afton scored its two runs in the top of the fifth on Jacob Rueffer’s two-run triple.
Brayden Swartwout pitched a five-inning complete game for the Bobcats, where he allowed two earned runs on six hits, two walks, and struck out eight batters.
Davin Warren and Paul Shelton combined for 12 runs (seven earned) on seven hits, six walks, and Warren struck out eight batters for the Crimson Hornets.
B-G (7-2) head to Sidney on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. while Harpursville/Afton (2-6) heads to Walton/Downsville on Friday at 4:30 p.m.
