NORWICH— On Monday, the Norwich Purple Tornado softball team hosted Seton Catholic, where the Purple Tornado fired up in their final at-bats to earn a 8-4 victory.

Both teams got on the board in the first inning, where Norwich took a 2-1 lead after one as Shaelyn Rice singled to drive in two runs and advanced to second on an error.

Seton Catholic tied the game in the top of the second before both teams continued to go back-and-forth until the Saints took a 4-3 lead in the fifth.

Norwich held the Saints from scoring in the top of the sixth and then needed to rip the game open, which they did.

With one out, Kerragan Reid tripled on a fly ball to right field before coming in to score the game-tying run on an RBI single by Carolyn Wright. Errors drove in two more runs before Kira Quattrocchi hit a two-out, two-run single to left.

Quattrocchi had a 1,2,3 top of the seventh and earned the save as Bri Cirigliano went six solid innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits, three walks, and nine strikeouts.
