BAINBRIDGE— On a cold Monday afternoon, the Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats baseball team hosted MAC league opponent Walton/Downsville. The Bobcats improved to 5-2 on the season with a dominant 19-8 victory.
Walton/Downsville took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first before B-G fought back with three runs in the bottom half of the inning. Both teams kept trading runs but the Bobcats excelled in the third and fourth innings.
B-G scored nine runs in the third and six runs in the fourth to put the game away and secure the victory.
B-G scored 19 runs on 12 hits with Anthony Cafasso, Brayden Swartwout (doubles), Mason Acquisto, and Davis Barnard paving the way with two hits each.
Cafasso led the team with six runs driven in, including a two-run homer to right field in the bottom of the first.
Connor Davy drove in four runs with a ground out, a bases-loaded walk, and an RBI single.
Parker Buttice, Troy Cannistra, and Jaxson McGraw also each had a hit in the win.
Brayden Swartwout got the start on the mound for the Bobcats, where he went three innings, allowing five runs (one earned) on two hits, four walks, and struck out six batters.
Connor Davy pitched two innings in relief, allowing three earned runs on one hit, four walks, and struck out four batters.
B-G (5-2) hosts Delhi this afternoon at 4:30 p.m.
