AFTON— The Afton Crimson Knights softball team held its annual softball tournament, featuring familiar league opponent Walton/Downsville along with Worcester and Stamford/Jefferson. Afton defeated both Worcester and Stamford/Jefferson to win the tournament.
Game 1:
Afton 23 - Worcester 3 F/5
Jenna Wilson and Adleigh Noone combined with nine strikeouts in the win on the mound. Emilie Hopkins went three-for-three with four RBIs. Rylee Rupakus and Wilson both went three-for-four at the plate with Rupakus driving in two runs and Wilson with one RBI. Charley Nickerson had an RBI while Faith Latashack-Lockwood drove in three runs and Misty Bushaw and Makenna Schultz had hits and scored four times each in the win.
Game 2:
Afton 7 - S/J 0.
Wilson pitched a complete game shutout and struck out eight batters to earn herself the tournament MVP trophy. Megan Racine and Rylee Rupakus (double) both drove in two runs each while Miranda Schultz and Emilie Hopkins had two hits and RBIs. Makenna Schultz and Jenna Wilson added three hits together in the win.
Emilie Hopkins received all-tournament team recognition as Wilson won the tournament MVP award.
