NORWICH - The United Church of Christ, First Congregational of Norwich, located at 11 West Main Street, will install its new settled pastor, Glenn Mahaffey, on Sunday, April 19 at 3:00 p.m.
The installation service will include UCC pastors from the Susquehanna Association of the New York Conference. The ceremony marks a covenant of mutual support and accountability between Pastor Glenn, the Norwich congregation, and other churches within the Association, representing the wider United Church of Christ.
The theme of the service is “All Are Welcome!” Pastor Glenn emphasized the importance of inclusivity, saying, “I enjoy diversity. People of different races, cultures, economic backgrounds, and gender identities all bring unique stories that enrich our shared wisdom as a faith community.”
The church is accessible to people of all physical abilities, and those who have faced challenges in life will find a welcoming and understanding community. Mahaffey added, “We don’t have all the answers, but we value asking questions and growing together in faith.”
