GREENE-- The Greene Trojans softball team hosted Sidney in the Trojans’ second game of the 2025-26 season.
Greene fell to Delhi in the first game on a walk-off and in Thursday's game, Greene fell short 8-7.
Sidney scored five runs in the first inning before Greene answered back with a run in the bottom half of the inning.
After being down 6-2 in the third inning, Greene came back and tied the game with a four-run fifth inning.
Both teams scored a run in the sixth before Sidney broke the 7-7 tie with a run in the top of the seventh.
Greene had the tying and game-winning runs on base but could not score.
The Trojans’ defense also made force plays for outs at home and caught a runner stealing.
Ahraya Whitt had a two-run single in the bottom of the fifth inning as Quinlin Cavanaugh had a hit and scored Greene's first run and had drew a walk.
Mia Yahner also hit a two-run single in the fifth as Rachel Anderson had a hit and Macie Dunlap walked twice and had a hit as well.
Lyndsay Specht pitched a complete game for the Trojans on the mound in the loss.
Greene (0-2) hosts Oxford on Saturday at 11 a.m.
