WALTON—The Norwich Purple Tornado baseball team headed to Walton to take on non-league opponent Walton/Downsville on Monday.

Norwich looked strong on the field and at the plate to earn a 9-0 shutout victory against the Crush.

Norwich's Carmine Pastore and Joey Parker combined for a one-hitter on the mound.

After two scoreless innings, Norwich got on the board with three runs in the top of the third.

After two back-to-back walks with one out, a run came in on a passed ball and on an error before Owen Olds brought in a run on a two-out RBI single to Right Field.

The Purple Tornado added one run in the top of the fifth inning as Zack Parker led the inning off with a single, stole second, and scored on Zac Turner's RBI double.

Turner and Noah Eddy came up clutch in the top of the sixth inning with two-out, two-run hits while Joey Parker drove in one run.

Turner led the team with two hits and three RBIs as Zack Parker (three stolen bases), Eddy, and Olds all had two hits in the win.

Carmine Pastore pitched six strong innings, allowing just the one hit, two walks, and struck out an outstanding 14 batters.

Joey Parker finished it off in the seventh, where he struck out two batters.

Norwich (1-4) hosts Sidney on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
