RICHFIELD - On April 10, 2026, around 9:30 p.m., members of the New York State Police at Richfield Springs responded to a one-vehicle crash on County Highway 22, just south of Butternut Road in the town of Richfield.  

An investigation at the scene determined that a 29-year-old female from Ilion was traveling south on County Road 22 when she left the roadway and struck a tree.  

Residents in the area who heard the crash, attempted to assist the driver. One neighbor who is also an EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) initiated CPR (Cardiopulmonary resuscitation).   Life saving measures were continued by members of Otsego County EMS.  

The operator, Ashley M. Faubert was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was transported by Otsego County Ambulance to Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown, where she was later pronounced deceased.  

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
