Norwich Softball Drops To Waverly

NORWICH— The Norwich Purple Tornado softball team hosted Waverly in a STAC league game late Wednesday morning. Norwich fell 23-3 in five-innings.

Waverly opened up with a 10-run first inning and Norwich added two runs of its own in the bottom half of the first with two bases-loaded walks, which counted as RBIs for Loralee Brown and Kira Quattrocchi.

The Wolverines added on in the second, third, and fourth innings.

Norwich scored one run in the final at-bats in the bottom of the fifth inning as Ava Cirigliano tripled and scored on a wild pitch.

The Purple Tornado scored three runs on three hits. Ava Cirigliano tripled and also reached on two walks, where she had two stolen bases. Bri Cirigliano also reached base with two walks and had two stolen bases.

Carolyn Wright and Loralee Brown also had hits in the loss.

Bri Cirigliano worked all five innings on the mound, allowing 23 runs (14 earned) on 20 hits, eight walks, and four strikeouts.

Norwich (0-4-1) heads to Chenango Valley on Monday at 5 p.m.
