Oxford Softball Defeats UV With A Combined No-hitter In Shutout Victory

NEW BERLIN— The Oxford Blackhawks and Unadilla Valley Storm softball teams kicked off the 2026 season in a league matchup at Unadilla Valley on Wednesday afternoon. Oxford came away with a big 32-0 shutout victory and a five-inning combined no-hitter.

Oxford’s Abby Stone led the team with five hits and nine RBIs, including a grand slam to left field in the first inning.

Peyton Cummings had a hit and four RBIs and also reached base on three hit by pitches.

Emmalee Reiss had a hit and three RBIs and walked five times.

Reagan Long ‘had three hits and two RBIs, along with two stolen bases.

Cora Hodge and Flanna Calkins also had two RBIs in the win.

Lily Marshman, Jordan Palmer, and Cora Hodge worked the combined no-hitter. Marshman struck out six batters, Hodge with three strikeouts, and Palmer had two strikeouts.

UV reached base on two hit by pitches (Cadence Mikalunas and Kaylee Converse) while Layla Stevens, Maddison Lanfair, and Converse reached base on walks.

Oxford (1-0) hosts B-G this afternoon at 4:30 p.m. while UV (0-1) heads to Harpursville today at the same time.
