NORWICH — Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) of Chenango County is busy signing additional farms to support Open Farm Day on July 18, and recently added the Berry Brae Farm, located at 1191 County Road 10, Norwich.

The Berry Brae Farm is owned by Ken and Sarah Jensen. Both are thrilled to be part of the upcoming event and welcome the community to their farm. They are looking forward to forward to sharing good news, refreshments, light snacks, and acquainting visitors to their stocked farm store.

Sarah said she believes it's important to be in the Open Farm Day event because there is so much cool stuff going on with local producers and what happens on farms is important for communities to be aware of.

"Getting to know the people that are here and trying to feed the community and trying to build those relationships is very important," she said.

"The store will be stocked with pork, lamb, and chicken," said Sarah. "All raised on our farm, along with our freshly made soaps and creams.”

“We work really hard to grow our customer base and without having a regular market that is able to support us, places like ours will close down,” she added.

When they're not busy with their animals or restoring buildings, they're educating others on the Chenango Food Alliance (CFA) program; connecting farmers, processors, and community

partners through a funding-based model.
