CONKLIN — The Norwich Purple Tornado baseball team started a three-game set with league opponent Sus Valley on Monday night, falling 9-0.
Norwich was held to just two hits on the night in the final inning of play. Zac Turner singled to center with one put and Owen Olds singled to right field with two outs.
Olds also reached base on a hit by pitch and Kolby Redenback walked to got on base.
The defense also turned a double play and caught a runner attempting to steal.
Carmine Pastore started on the mound for Norwich, where he went four innings, allowing three runs (one earned) on four hits, four walks, and one strikeout.
Zack Parker pitched two innings in relief, allowing six earned runs on five hits, two walks, and struck out two batters.
Norwich (0-2) hosts the Sabers on Wednesday at 11 a.m.
