STATEN ISLAND— Over the weekend, multiple Chenango County indoor track athletes traveled with their coaches and families to the 2026 NYSPHSAA Indoor Track Championships at Ocean Breeze in Staten Island, NY. BGAH brought seven athletes to states as Norwich had Kaden Downey and Oxford/Greene had Gordon Smith and Keegan Waltz. Great job, everyone and best of luck to the seniors!

BGAH:
The Bainbridge-Guilford/Afton/Harpursville Bears brought seven athletes including, Harpo Hardt, Isaiah Hampton, Appalonia Bushaw, Maddie Ingham, Madisyn Larsen, Laila Williams, and Isabel Suda.
Junior Harpo Hardt finished 28th in the 55 meter hurdles out of 35 competitors with a time of 8.18 seconds.
Senior Isaiah Hampton competed in both the high and long jumps. Hampton finished 11th in the long jump with a jump of 22 feet, four inches. He cleared six feet, two inches in the high jump for 18th place.
Sophomore Appalonia Bushaw (Afton) came in 29th place in the girls’ long jump with a jump of 16 feet, two and 3/4 inches.
Maddie Ingham, Madisyn Larsen, Laila Williams, and Isabel Suda finished 17th in the 4x400 meter relay in division II and fourth in the Section I results. They finished the event in a time of 4:25.12.
Madisyn Larsen also competed on the Section IV intersectional relay team, where the Section IV girls finished ninth in the distance medley with a time of 10:42.40.
NHS:
Senior Kaden Downey placed fifth in the state and seventh in federation and made podium in the weight throw finals over the weekend with a throw of 63 feet, nine and 3/4 inches. Congratulations, Kaden.
O-G:
Senior Keegan Waltz competed in both the 300 meter dash, in which he won sectionals in the event, and in the high jump. Waltz finished 23rd with a time of 35.60 seconds in the 300 meter dash and cleared six feet in the high jump to finish 25th.
Gordon Smith had qualified for the intersectional relay team, where the Section IV boys finished ninth with a time of 8:58. Smith ran the 1600m leg and ran a time of 4:30.12, which was a PR for the Sophomore.
