DRYDEN— On Wednesday, the Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats girls’ basketball team traveled to Tompkins Corland Community College to take on a tough number two seeded Union Springs. B-G battled but fell 44-36 in the Section IV, Class C semifinals.
B-G once led with a brief 13-11 score at the end of the first quarter, but found themselves only down one at the break. B-G took a small lead again at the end of the third quarter, 32-31, but Union Springs outscored B-G 13-4 in the final eight minutes to limit B-G from making a comeback and secured the victory.
Union Springs will take on Delhi in the Section IV, Class C championships.
Marissa Mayo led the Bobcats with 10 points, including two three-pointers and she also had a team-high of eight rebounds.
Jayslin Henderson added eight points, seven rebounds, and two steals in her final high school basketball game while fellow senior Peyton Umbra finished with six points (two three’s), three rebounds, a team-high four assists, and three steals in her final game.
Jalyn Winans added four points while Emma Kinter hit a three in the first quarter and Tori Suda, who was voted athlete of the week for News Channel 34, scored three points in the second quarter and added four rebounds and two steals. Kamry Patten netted two points in the third quarter in the loss.
B-G finished with a 19-3 record, including a 9-1 MAC league record with its only loss to Delhi in the regular season. The Bobcats were also the 2026 MAC runner-up after the loss to Delhi in the MAC championship.
