OXFORD— The Oxford Blackhawks girls’ basketball team earned the seven-seed in the Section IV, Class C tournament, where the Blackhawks hosted familiar opponent, Unatego, as the 10-seed. After going 1-1 with Unatego in the regular season and MAC playoffs, Oxford fell 46-39 with the season on the line.
Oxford showcased its best efforts in the second and fourth quarter, but were otherwise held offensively with only four leading scorers. Meanwhile, Unatego played strong throughout the contest to advance to play a tough two-seed Union Springs team.
Paige Rickard, the team’s leading first-team all-star, led the Blackhawks with 17 points, having a strong first half with 13 points.
Margaret Rovente added 11 points, where she went five-for-eight at the free-throw line.
Aubrey Rickard finished with seven points and led the team with nine rebounds as Raine Rovente had four points and three blocks.
Oxford finished the 2025-26 season with a 13-8 record. Best of luck to seniors Abby Stone, Emmalee Reiss, Olivia Oliver, and Margaret Rovente.
