Oxford Boys Drop To W/D

OXFORD— The Oxford Blackhawks boys’ basketball team hosted Walton/Downsville in the final regular season game on Tuesday. Oxford fell 57-39.

Despite the loss, the Blackhawks remain within the top four MAC teams that are eligible to play for the MAC Championship as the fourth seed.

Oxford had a great start, but were limited to just 18 points total in the second half with all its leading scorers held to single digits as well.

Walton/Downsville had a strong second and fourth quarters to secure the victory and currently stand as the third seed.

Richard Hunter and Justin Peck both led the Blackhawks with eight points. Peck hit two three’s off the bench in the first half. Kayden Renfrow added seven points as Gordon Smith had six points, all in the second half.

Nic Dodzweit finished with five points as Dom Howe had three points and Bennett Paden with a bucket in the second quarter.

Oxford faces the MAC leading Unatego/Franklin at Unatego in the MAC Semis on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
