NEW BERLIN— The Oxford Blackhawks and the Unadilla Valley Storm girls’ basketball teams met on Wednesday in a non-league matchup. Oxford defeated the Storm 43-23.
The Lady Blackhawks stayed consistent throughout the contest before slowing things down in the final eight minutes. Oxford’s defense played strong with UV limited to just five players playing through the entire contest.
Raine Rovente led Oxford with 15 points, posting nine points in the first half before settling in with six points in the final eight minutes.
Aubrey Rickard added eight points and also had seven rebounds.
Jenna Denz and Paige Rickard both finished with five points as Margaret Rovente and ReesAnne Tefft both had three points in the first half.
Tefft led the team with nine rebounds while Margaret Rovente had four steals.
Arielle Ross and Olivia Oliver added buckets in the second quarter.
UV’s Kora Johnson led the team with 11 points as Myriah Taylor had 10 and Allisyn Daniell with a bucket in the first quarter.
Oxford improves to 10-7 on the season and heads to Marathon on Wednesday at 7:15 p.m.
UV (3-13) hit the road for its final two regular season games, starting at Sidney on Friday at 7:15 p.m.
