Afton Girls Defeat OV In Local County Match

SOUTH OTSELIC — The Afton Crimson Knights and the Otselic Valley Vikings girls’ basketball teams met for a local county matchup on Thursday night. The Crimson Knights came out on top 55-28 in the non-league contest.

Afton has faced the Vikings twice this season, where the Crimson Knights have won both games.

Afton played three high-intensity quarters before slowing things down in the final eight minutes with maintaining a solid lead. OV was held to single-digits in all but the third quarter, where the Vikings posted 11 points.

The Crimson Knights also had a strong third quarter, where the team posted 22 points with Rylee Rupakus, Megan Racine, Misty Bushaw, and McKenna Ross putting up great efforts within those eight minutes to help

Rylee Rupakus played consistently throughout the entire contest to led the Crimson Knights with 25 points, including eight points in the third quarter.

Megan Racine added 11 points with six points in the third quarter and posted a double-double as she also had 16 rebounds.

McKenna Ross finished with nine points, including five free-throws and added eight rebounds and five steals.

Misty Bushaw also had nine points with six points in the third quarter and finished with four steals.

Abbey Paoletti had a single free-throw for the Crimson Knights in the second quarter in the close win.

The Lady Vikings were led by Mackenzie Reandeau with 10 points and eight rebounds. She also added three steals.

Miranda Hackett followed with nine points and also had three steals as Lilly Palmer finished with four points. Abby White added a three-pointer as Skylar Graham had two points and three rebounds in the loss.

OV’s Bella Sayles and Izzy Neal both had four rebounds as Baleigh Dubois finished with three rebounds, along with Emma Rooker. Neal also led the Vikings with three blocks.

Afton (6-8) heads to Delhi on Monday at 7:15 p.m. as OV (1-9) heads to Brookfield the same day at 6 p.m.
