SIDNEY — The Greene Trojans girls basketball team put up a resilient effort on the road Tuesday night but ultimately fell to Sidney with a final score of 48-41.
Hailey Butler paced the Trojans with 14 points, while Mia Yahner, Lexi Cloyd, and Mya Leggett-Carlin followed with six points each. The Trojans also received four points from Braelyn Blakeslee, a three-pointer from Deidre Colgan in the opening period, and a field goal from Kaitlyn Youngs in the third quarter.
While Greene stayed competitive throughout the night, inconsistency at the free-throw line proved costly in the closing stretch. Despite the overall team struggle at the stripe, Mia Yahner provided a bright spot by finishing a perfect 4-for-4 from the line. Greene finished 6-for-13 overall, missing opportunities to close the gap in a tight game while Sidney finished 10-of-16 at the line.
