BAINBRIDGE—The Bainbridge-Guilford girls basketball team regrouped Tuesday to pick up a 52-21 MAC league victory over Afton. After suffering a loss to Delhi in their previous game, B-G used a relentless defense to limit the Crimson Knights to single-digit scoring in three of the four quarters.

Marissa Mayo powered the Bobcats with a double-double, posting 22 points and 10 rebounds. Mayo took over in the second and third quarters, scoring eight points in each frame. Jayslin Henderson also provided a major spark, finishing with 13 points and going a perfect 3-for-3 at the free-throw line. Henderson did the bulk of her damage early, scoring 11 of her points in the first half.

The B-G offense stayed in rhythm thanks to Peyton Umbra, who finished with eight points and a team-high seven assists. Emma Kinter contributed across the board with nine rebounds, five assists, and five points. On the defensive side, Mayo and Henderson were constant disruptions, finishing with five steals each. Other contributors for the Bobcats included Jalyn Winans with seven points and Kamry Patten with four.

Rylee Rupakus led the way for Afton with 15 points. Rupakus was especially effective in the third quarter, where she scored eight points and went 3-for-3 from the line. McKenna Ross finished with four points, all coming at the free-throw line, while Misty Bushaw added a basket in the third quarter.

B-G (13-1) heads to Unatego on Thursday at 7:15 p.m. while Afton (5-8) heads to Otselic Valley at the same time.
