NORWICH — On February 7 and 8, 2026 at the Norwich YMCA, hundreds of swimmers will descend upon the Norwich YMCA for the CNY YMCA District Championship hosted by the Norwich YMCA Dolphins swim team.
Seven teams in total from across central New York including Watertown, Oneonta, Fulton, Cortland, Auburn, and Oneida will bring swimmers of all ages to race for the top spot in the league.
Saturday, February 7 will see swimmers in the 8 & under and 9-10 age groups; while Sunday, February 8 will have swimmers in the 11-12, 13-14, and 15& over age groups racing in the pool.
During this time, much of the Norwich YMCA will be dedicated to the event. The pool, community rooms, conference room, gym, locker rooms and fitness studio will all be used to manage the 500+ swimmers expected at the event.
Hosting this event is a great honor as it re-establishes a long tradition of swimming excellence in the area. The dedicated coaches, swimmers, and their families look forward to swimming in their home pool and hosting this annual event.
The last time the Norwich Dolphins hosted this event was in 2014. Former Dolphins alumni, of which there are many, are encouraged to visit for the event. Anyone interested in volunteering should contact the meet manager and aquatics director of the YMCA, Tucker Norton.
