ENDWELL— The Norwich Purple Tornado boys’ swim team traveled to Maine-Endwell on Saturday, where they came in eighth place in the Maine-Endwell Blizzard Invitational.
Amon Oliver led Norwich with a fourth place finish in the 500 free. He picked up a new best time of 5:25.05.
Alexandru Beiu also swam in the 500, where he finished 23rd with a time of 7:06.01.
Oliver came in sixth place in the 200 free, where he earned a new personal best time of 2:00.97. Beiu finished 33rd with a time of 2:36.18.
As a team, Norwich took fifth in the 200 free relay with Nate Shtrauch, Tim Guezewich, Oliver, and Alex Moutarde.
The Purple Tornado came in eighth place in the 400 free relay with a team of Oliver, Shtrauch, Moutarde, and Sebastian Kenyon.
Sharon Thinagaran swam to an 18th place finish in the 200 individual medley with a time of 3:10.73.
Alex Moutarde, Tim Guezewich, and Shalom Thinagaran all competed in the 50 free. Moutarde led the trio with a 12th place finish with a time of 25.12 seconds.
Guezewich came in 19th place with a time of 25.74 seconds.
Guezewich also swam in the 100 backstroke, where he finished 10th with a time of 1:04.23 with Nate Shtrauch behind him in 11th place (1:07.01).
Benjamin Collins came in 23rd in the 100 back with a new personal best of 1:24.21.
Thinagaran finished 38th out of 69 swimmers and earned a new personal best of 28.14 seconds.
Senior Nate Shtrauch earned a ninth place finish in the 100 butterfly, picking up a season-best time of 1:02.52.
Moutarde also achieved a top 10 finish, where he swam in the 100 free with a time of 56.26 seconds.
Shalom Thinagaran came in 31st with a new personal best of 1:04.41. Benjamin Collins also earned a new personal best with a time of 1:12.16 for 46th place.
Sharon Thinagaran achieved a new personal best in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:24.35.
Norwich heads to Chenango Valley on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
