NEW BERLIN— The Greene Trojans and the Unadilla Valley girls’ basketball teams faced off on Wednesday night in a MAC league contest. Both teams had played a non-league game in the UV Holiday Tournament, where the Trojans had earned their first win of the season. Greene went 2-0 against the Storm with a close 36-28 victory on Wednesday. This loss stings for the Storm as they just came off a small margin win over Gilboa-Conesville-Roxbury the night before for senior night.

Greene started off strong with great efforts from leading scorers Hailey Butler and Mya Leggett-Carlin, who ended up scoring the team’s first quarter points as Butler scored 10 and Leggett-Carlin with four points. Greene led 14-4 after the first eight minutes of play and held the Storm to single-digit team scoring up until the fourth quarter.

UV posted its best 14 point quarter in the contest, but could not make a full comeback, down by eight points.

Hailey Butler led the Trojans with 18 points, including three three-pointers and she scored 10 of the 18 in the first quarter as mentioned.

Lexi Cloyd added eight points with six in the third quarter as Leggett-Carlin scored all four of her points in the first quarter.

Kaitlyn Youngs hit a three as Braelyn Blakeslee had two points and Marielle St. Germain with a single free-throw.
