SIDNEY-- The Oxford Blackhawks girls' basketball team traveled to Sidney for a MAC league matchup against the Sabers. Oxford fell 57-39 on Thursday night.
The Lady Blackhawks were held to 10 points in the first half and picked up the pace in the second half. However, the Blackhawks defense could not stop Sidney's Nayla Miley from going off with 29 points, most coming in the fourth quarter.
Paige Rickard led Oxford with 14 points, including 10 of those points in the second half, along with six rebounds and four assists.
Jenna Denz scored all seven of her points in the second half as Emmalee Reiss hit two three's and finished with seven points as well.
Margaret Rovente added five points as Jordan Palmer sinked in two free-throws.
Reesanne Tefft and Raine Rovente also finished with two points. Raine also led the team with 12 rebounds in the loss.
Oxford (6-5) hosts Deposit-Hancock on Monday at 7 p.m.
