OXFORD— The Oxford Blackhawks boys' basketball team hosted the Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats in a local MAC league contest on Wednesday night. Oxford picked up its second straight win, defeating B-G 54-41. The Blackhawks also picked up its fifth win in the last six games played.

Both teams traded shots with several lead changes and competitive defensive play, including which team was going to grab the rebound under the basket at every opportunity.

B-G, who has been struggling with injuries, ran into foul trouble early on with several players picking up three fouls within the first half.

Oxford saw great play from Richard Hunter throughout the contest, who strived in the first half, especially in the second quarter to help Oxford take a 28-19 lead at halftime. Oxford even had a shot at the buzzer before going into the locker room.

The Bobcats made improvements coming out for the second half as Aidan Haynes, Layne MacDermott, Brayden Wehrli and Isaiah Hampton helped efforts to make it a two-point game quickly in the third quarter.

However, Oxford turned the tables and extended their lead big time, going up by 10 and then by 15, taking full control at the finish with easy drives inside the paint while B-G struggled to finish shots.
