SHERBURNE—The Sherburne-Earlville Timberwolves boys' basketball team hosted non-league opponent Jordan-Elbridge on Wednesday night. Both teams battled the whole way through with the Eagles taking the close 61-53 victory over the Timberwolves.
It was a back-and-forth affair with S-E taking an early 17-11 lead after the first eight minutes. Then, the Timberwolves took a brief 31-28 lead at halftime that they looked to keep.
However, Jordan-Elbridge went ahead in the second half with outscoring S-E in the final 16 minutes.
It was anyone's game at the end of the third quarter with the Eagles leading by one, but S-E could not contain their tough opponent to make a comeback.
S-E's magical number on the night was 11 as they scored 11 quarter points in both the third and fourth quarters.
The Timberwolves' leading scorer, Jordan Palmer also had 11 points on the night.
Nolan Sigman added nine points as Tomek Jusianiec finished with eight points.
Steven Smith, Cam Mann, and Kyler Buschor all had seven points and Bryce Bevilacqua with four points in the loss.
S-E (5-7) heads to Clinton on Friday at 7 p.m.
