NHS Boys Swim Falls Short To Sus Valley

NORWICH -- The Norwich Purple Tornado boys' swim team hosted Sus Valley on Monday night, where Norwich fell short 91-81.

The Purple Tornado continue to see great depth from both their young and veteran swimmers, making improvements in every meet.

Timothy Guezewich, Nate Shtrauch, Amon Oliver, and Alex Moutarde earned the victory in the 200 free relay over Sus Valley with a time of 1:42.61. A team of Benjamin Collins, Sharon Thinagaran, Sebastian Kenyon, and Shalom Thinagaran took second in the 200 medley relay.

Shtrauch, Oliver, Guezewich, and Moutarde won the 400 free relay with a time of 3:54.37 as Shalom Thinagaran, Alexandru Beiu, Sharon Thinagaran, and Sebastian Kenyon made up the second relay, who finished third.

Seniors Nate Shtrauch and Timothy Guezewich went back-to-back in the 200 individual medley with Shtrauch winning the event in 2:28.98 with Guezewich in second with a time of 2:36.18.

Alex Moutarde earned the victory in the 50 free with a time of 24.80 seconds as Sebastian Kenyon achieved a new personal best time of 26.71 seconds for fourth place. Shalom Thinagaran took fifth in the same event, where he earned a new personal best time of 29.05 seconds.

Moutarde also won the 100 free with a time of 56.68 seconds as Kenyon came in fourth (1:05.65) and Shalom Thinagaran earned a new best time of 1:11.25 for sixth place.

Amon Oliver won the 500 free with a season-best time of 5:29.81. He also took second in the 200 free with a new personal best time of 2:02.23, behind the leader's 2:01.75. Alexandru Beiu finished fourth with a time of 2:36.83.

Beiu took third in the 500 with a new personal best time of 7:02.98 with Benjamin Collins in sixth with his new best of 7:35.65.

Guezewich earned the top finish in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:15.65 with Collins in second with a time of 1:34.48.

Shtrauch took second in the 100 butterfly with a season-best time of 1:02.53, behind the leader's 1:01.73.

Sharon Thinagaran finished third in the 100 breaststroke wiht a time of 1:27.45.

Norwich hosts Greene on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
