NORWICH - Recently, Raymond Corporation donated a forklift to Chenango County Office of Emergency Services (OES) to help aid in safely and efficiently moving, storing and deploying critical emergency equipment.

On Monday, during the Board of Supervisors meeting, Chenango County OES Fire Coordinator and Director Matthew Beckwith thanked Raymond Corporation Vice President of Operations Ryan Delaney for supporting their services that play a vital role in protecting health, safety, and welfare of Chenango County residents.

As a token of their appreciation, Beckwith presented DeLaney with a plaque.

The engraved words shared a great appreciation regarding the donation of the stand-up counter-balanced forklift and he thanked DeLaney and Raymond for their unwavering commitment to the community and public safety.

Delaney took to the podium next to thank Chenango County and said the county has been a tremendous partner in business for over 100 years.

He thanked Chenango County Emergency Services and said it was a no-brainer when they asked for help in off loading equipment.

“Everything you do, helps us stay in business and keep going,” said DeLaney. “The simple reason we are here is for the people.”

“With all of our factories worldwide, you cannot find 2,500 more dedicated hard working professionals that can build fork lifts anywhere but right here in Chenango County,” DeLaney said.

“So that’s why we stay here, because of the people and we appreciate everything you do to keep the people going,” he added.

He said it’s a true partnership between Raymond Corporation and Chenango County OES and they are very thankful for emergency services and all they do.

“Thank you for everything you do, this is very nice,” DeLaney added.

Beckwith said when EMS Coordinator James Dean contacted Raymond in search of a forklift, they had no idea the resolution would come to this and said when they went to the Raymond building, it was more than they expected.

“It was pretty cool to walk in and to be real honest, it was very overwhelming,” Beckwith said. “We didn't expect to have this donated to us and at no cost.”

“On top of that, Raymond provided certification training to meet all of the OSHA requirements, training on how to operate it, and they will take care of the maintenance,” he said.

“Not only did they donate it to us, they completely refurbished it and also painted it in our color scheme, complete with red lights and a siren,” Beckwith added.

He explained OES receives scores of emergency equipment throughout the year. Tractor trailers deliver pallets stacked with emergency equipment to off-load and said it was previously unloaded by hand.

Now with the forklift, Beckwith said the job will be much easier and more efficient.

“Raymond has been a great partner, they've really done well for us,” he said. “ I have about 14 more pallets arriving soon and it will be much easier to off load those.”

Chenango County OES provide reliable and specialized equipment essentials for emergency services to manage emergency operations, logistic, and disaster response activity.
