GREENE — The Greene Trojans boys’ basketball team hosted MAC league opponent Unadilla Valley on Thursday night. Both teams battled with Greene earning a 78-63 win in the high-scoring affair.
Greene looked impressive in three of the four quarters, where they scored 20 or more points as a team. Both teams also had its leading scorers have 12 points or more in the contest.
However, Greene was more balanced all-around and able to secure the victory.
Keegan Waltz led the Trojans with 24 points, including three three-pointers and was consistent throughout the entire game.
Jacob Eroshevich added 13 points, all coming in the first three quarters as Eli Eggleston had nine points.
Gavyn Ely went five-for-seven at the free-throw line and had seven points altogether.
Liam Clark banked in two threes for six points as John Mulroy also finished with six points.
Cooper Davis added four points as Kane Winn contributed with two free-throws and Jackson Roth with one free-throw in the win.
UV’s Denzel Peter led all scorers with 29 points, knocking in two three’s, along with Zack Welch, who finished with 12 points.
Preston York added nine points with Taylor Hodge scoring four points in the fourth quarter and Tristan Collins scoring four in the second quarter.
Steven Johnson had a basket in the first quarter and Brodey Cattanach made one free-throw in the loss.
Greene (2-7) hosts Deposit-Hancock on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m. UV (0-8) heads to Harpursville/Afton on Wednesday at 7:15 p.m.
