OXFORD— After hosting the A B Doyle tournament at the beginning of the week, the Oxford Blackhawks girls' basketball team hosted Harpursville in a MAC league contest on Friday.

The Lady Blackhawks picked up the 59-22 league victory.

Oxford started off strong with a 15-0 run with great pressure on defense from Aubrey Rickard and Paige Rickard while Emmalee Reiss hit a three and went back for more with a basket on the next offensive drive after Margaret Rovente stole the ball.

Raine Rovente also led the Blackhawks offensively as well.

Harpursville had scored with about a 1:30 left in the first quarter and Oxford went up 15-5 at the end of the first eight minutes.

From there, the Blackhawks continued to add on to their lead and held Harpursville to four points before halftime to lead 27-9.

Both teams traded shots in the second half, but Oxford controlled the contest with going up by 30 points late in the fourth quarter.

Raine Rovente led the Blackhawks with 12 points, nine rebounds, and had two blocks as Emmalee Reiss had 11 points, including two three's and had two steals.

Paige Rickard had nine points and five steals while Reesanne Tefft added eight points and eight rebounds.

Olivia Oliver finished with five points as Aubrey Rickard had four points in the first half.

Margaret Rovente hit a three while Jordan Palmer had two points.

Arielle Ross and Jenna Denz both added one free-throw each in the win.

Oxford (4-3) heads to Whitney Point this evening.
