SIDNEY - Along with all of regular pre-school, school-age and teen programs being offered at the Sidney Memorial Public Library each week, we have some exciting programs coming up in January.
The year 2026 is the 250th anniversary of our nation and to help celebrate we will be offering a series of six programs by Scott Payne commemorating this special event. Join us on Thursday, January 15 at 6:00 p.m. for the first in the series, Scott’s presentation, Saratoga: Two Battles That Changed the World Part1: The Battle of Freeman’s Farm. This program will be held in the Smart Community Room.
Watercolor Workshop: On Saturday, January 17 from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. Join Chris Foxx for a Watercolor Painting Workshop. This class is free but registration is required. Call the library at 607-563-1200 or stop by and sign up at the circulation desk.
Friends Movie: On January 25 at 1:30 p.m. The Friends of the Libraries will present the movie, “The Greatest Showman” with Hugh Jackman. Enjoy this crowd pleaser on the big screen in the Smart Community Room. The movie is rated PG and runs 1 hr. 45 mins.
Computer Classes: There will be a computer on Microsoft Word on January 14 at 2:00 p.m. and a Class on Microsoft Exel on Wednesday, January 21 at 2:00 p.m.
Photo Exhibit: View the work of nature photographer, Carl Higgs through January 23 in the Smart Community Room.
Friends of the Libraries will be holding their A La Carte book sale in the foyer of the library on Saturday, January 17, 10:30 a.m to 1:00 p.m.
Photography Club will meet January 26 at 6:00 p.m. This group meets monthly with Rod Sutton and Mark Picone to discuss techniques and to learn and share tips.
Weather Policy: Reminder, when the Sidney School District is closed for a snow day the Sidney & Masonville libraries will also be closed. If there is a one hour delay the Sidney library opens @ 10am, a two hour delay the library opens at 11 a.m. Tune in to WCDO for further closing information.
The Sidney and Masonville libraries will be closed on January 19 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
