Local Indoor Track Teams Compete In Afternoon Session Of Section IV Classic

CORTLAND — The Section IV Classic indoor track meet was held at SUNY Cortland over the weekend, featuring Bainbridge-Guilford/Afton/Harpursville, Oxford/Greene, and Norwich in the afternoon session. Full results can be found on ny.milesplit.com.

BGAH:

Girls’ Track:

The BGAH girls took second in the meet with 66 points as Oneonta won the meet with 82 points.

Macey LaFever, Jenna Wilson, Maddie Ingham, and Tabitha Charette took second out of just two teams in the 4000 meter distance medley relay with a time of 15:34.96. Madi Beardslee, Kathleen Charette, Alessandra Cafasso, and Sophia Suda finished 11th in the girls’ sprint medley relay with a time of 5:30.78.

Appalonia Bushaw, Madisyn Larsen, Brenna George, and Alessandra Cafasso all competed in the 55 meter dash with Bushaw in fifth with a time of 7.96 seconds, Larsen following in sixth (7.99 seconds), and George in seventh (8.06 seconds). Cafasso came in 27th with a time of 9.18 seconds.

Maddie Ingham took second in the 600 meter run with a time of 1:46.29, behind Binghamton’s 1:43.09. Laila Williams came in ninth place with a time of 2:02.75 as Madi Beardslee finished 18th (2:15.45) and Jenna Wilson in 21st (2:18.10).

Tabitha Charette and Isabel Suda both competed in the 1500 meter race walk with Charette in first with a time of 9:43.78 and Suda in second with a time of 9:53.

Madisyn Larsen picked up a point in the 55 meter hurdles as she finished sixth with a time of 10.73 seconds.

Isabel Suda, Kathleen Charette, Macey LaFever, and Sophia Suda all competed in the 300 meter dash. Isabel Suda came in 13th place with a time of 51.17 seconds as Charette finished 18th with a time of 53.87 seconds with LaFever behind her in 19th (54.09 seconds). Sophia Suda finished 27th with a time of 57.90 seconds.

Girls’ Field:

Appalonia Bushaw led the BGAH girls with winning the long jump with a jump of 16 feet, 10 and 3/4 inches as Kathleen Charette finished seventh with a jump of 13 feet, eight inches. Railey Odell finished 19th with a jump of 11 feet, three and a quarter inches and Tabitha Charette in 23rd (10-10.75).

Bushaw took fifth in the high jump, clearing four feet, 10 inches with Laila Williams tying for 10th place (4-4).

Marissa Mayo, Tori Suda, Abbagayle Fitzgerald, and Hailey Maye all had impressive finishes in the girls’ shot put. Mayo took second with a throw of 30 feet, seven inches, behind Sidney’s 31-3.

Suda followed in third with a throw of 30 feet, one and a half inches as Fitzgerald finished fifth with a throw of 28 feet. Maye finished 14th with a throw of 21 feet, seven and a quarter inches.

Boys’ Track:

The BGAH boys also took second with 60 points as Union-Endicott won the meet with 71 points.

The BGAH boys’ sprint medley relay team led by Isaiah Hampton, Harpo Hardt, Connor Davy, and Owen Degan took third with a time of 3:54.20, behind both Union-Endicott and Oneonta.

Matthew Wombacker was the lone male competitor in the 1500 meter race walk with a time of 6:44.09.

Harpo Hardt won the 55 meter hurdles with a time of 8.24 seconds with Jackari Garipoli came in seventh place with a time of 10.27 seconds.

Rowan Beasinger came in third in the 3200 meter run with a time of 11:47.05. Ryan Larsen, Zane Mumbulo, and Anthony Cafasso all competed in the 55 meter dash, where Larsen finished 15th with a time of 7.37 seconds, Mumbulo in 19th (7.51 seconds), and Cafasso in 25th (7.96 seconds).

Mason Lans, Brennan Andres, and Conner Rowe all ran in the 1600 meters, where Lans finished 11th with a time of 6:01.64, Andres in 17th (6:32.21), and Rowe in 22nd (6:52.35).

Camren Cuozzo finished 12th in the 300 meter dash with a time of 43.53 seconds as Theo Loya came in 16th with a time of 45.24 seconds and Anthony Cafasso in 17th (45.70 seconds).

Boys’ Field:

Harpo Hardt won the boys’ triple jump with a top jump of 41 feet, four and a quarter inches. Jackari Garipoli earned an eighth place finish in the long jump with a jump of 16 feet, eight and a quarter inches.

Isaiah Hampton won the boys’ high jump with a height of five feet, 10 inches.

Ryan Larsen came in ninth place in the shot put event with a throw of 40 feet, five and a quarter inches.

NHS:

Girls’ Track:

The Norwich Purple Tornado girls came in sixth place in the meet with a total of 38.50 points. Ava Cirigliano, Bri Cirigliano, Layla Root, and McKenzie Hagenbuch took third in the girls’ sprint medley relay with a time of 4:49.74, behind Sidney and Ithaca.

Malea Sutton came in seventh place with a time of 3:57.60 in the 1000 meter run as Laci Zieno finished 15th with a time of 5:00.09.

Sutton also ran in the 1500 meters, where she finished 17th with a time of 6:20.63.

Root earned a 10th place finish in the 55 meter dash with a time of 8.34 seconds with sophomore Nora Collins in 29th place with a time of 9.29 seconds.

Hagenbuch came in seventh place in the 600 meter run with a time of 1:57.10 with teammate Natalie Phillips in 15th place with a time of 2:10.19 and Olivia Palmer in 26th (2:46.01).

Ava Cirigliano took third in the 300 meter dash with a time of 45.45 seconds as Collins finished 29th with a time of 58.64 seconds.

Girls’ Field:

Reagan Decker earned a fourth place finish in the long jump with a jump of 14 feet, four and 3/4 inches. She also jumped in the triple jump with a jump of 29 feet, four inches for seventh place.

Decker tied for sixth place, clearing four feet, six inches in the high jump.

Natalie Phillips and Samantha Palmer both competed in the shot put event. Phillips earned a 10th place finish with a throw of 24 feet and a quarter inches as Palmer finished 23rd with a throw of 15 feet, eight and 3/4 inches.

Olivia Palmer took third in the weight throw with a throw of 23 feet, one and 3/4 inches with Samantha Palmer in fifth with a throw of 16 feet, four inches.

Boys’ Track:

The Norwich boys’ indoor track team also earned a sixth place finish in the meet with a total of 32.33 points.

Connor Marshall, Malik Eccleston, Cameron Carnachan, and Nic Sutton took fifth in the sprint medley relay with a time of 4:04.50.

Marshall took third in the 55 meter hurdles with a time of 8.86 seconds as Eccleston tied for 13th place in the 55 meter dash with a time of 7.33 seconds.

Nic Sutton took second in the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:57.96, behind U-E’s 4:54.77.

Boys’ Field:

Connor Marshall and Malik Eccleston both competed in the high jump, where Marshall tied for sixth with a height of five feet, four inches. Eccleston cleared four feet, 10 inches.

Senior Kaden Downey continues to excel in the boys’ weight throw for the Purple Tornado. Downey won the event with a throw of 62 feet, nine and a quarter inches. Liam White took third with a throw of 46 feet, four and a half inches.

O/G:

Girls’ Track:

The Oxford/Greene girls team finished 15th in the meet with four points. Amani Amin, Ellie Beadle, Clara Leach, and Tallena Lupinetti finished 13th in the girls’ sprint medley relay with a time of 5:52.89.

Leach and Amin both competed in the 55 meter dash, where Leach finished 14th with a time of 8.48 seconds as Amin came in 31st out of 37th place with a time of 9.48 seconds.

Lupinetti finished 17th in the 300 meter dash with a time of 52.75 seconds.

Girls’ Field:

Clara Leach and Amani Amin both competed in the long jump, where Leach finished 14th with a jump of 12 feet, five and a half inches. Amin tied for 21st with a jump of 11 feet. Leach came in fourth place in the triple jump with a jump of 31 feet and a half inches with Lupinetti in 10th (26-3.25).

Boys’ Track:

The Oxford/Greene boys’ indoor track team came in 10th place with 20 points. Eddie Golden, Liam Griffin, Paxton LaMonica, and Dawson Viele picked up a point in the boys’ sprint medley relay with a sixth place finish with a time of 4:08.01.

Keegan Waltz led the Oxford/Greene boys individually as he won the 300 meter dash with a time of 37.78 seconds. Paxton LaMonica finished 13th in the same event with a time of 43.59 seconds.

Viele and Liam Phillippone both competed in the 55 meter dash, where Viele finished 20th with a time of 7.57 seconds and Phillippone in 22nd with a time of 7.76 seconds.

Golden took fifth in the 600 meter run with a time of 1:38.21.

Boys’ Field:

Liam Phillippone and Isaac Utter both competed in the triple jump, where Phillippone finished sixth with a jump of 36 feet, three and 3/4 inches. Utter finished 13th with a jump of 29 feet, 10 and a half inches.

Keegan Waltz took third in the high jump, clearing five feet, eight inches.

Utter threw for 34 feet, six and 3/4 inches in the shot put for 11th place.
