OXFORD— After many road games to start the season, the Oxford Blackhawks boys’ basketball team finally had a home game, where they hosted Chenango Forks on Saturday evening. Oxford tried to keep up with a tough non-league opponent, but fell in the high-scoring affair 68-55.

Both teams saw three players post double-digit scoring, but Oxford could not contain on defense to make a comeback offensively. Anytime Oxford tried, Forks stole the bal forcefully and quickly went down the court and scored off turnovers.

Oxford got closer in the game with three’s but then Forks would answer back with their own three and limit the Blackhawks from then on.

Gordon Smith led Oxford with 19 points, staying consistent throughout the contest. Nic Dodzweit added 14 points, including going four-for-five at the free-throw line.

Degan Endress finished with 10 points as Bennett Paden had eight points, including a four-point play on being fouled on a three-point shot that went in as he was knocked down.

Dom Howe and Aiden Mellem both finished with two points in the loss.
