AFTON — The Afton Crimson Knights girls’ basketball team hosted non-league, but local county opponent, Otselic Valley on Tuesday night. The Crimson Knights came away with a big 51-24 victory to improve to and even 3-3 on the season.
Afton stayed up throughout the entire contest, holding the Vikings to single-digit scoring in the first three quarters before OV picked up the pace in the final eight minutes of play.
Afton’s Rylee Rupakus and Appalonia Bushaw both led the team with 15 points. Bushaw scored 11 of her 15 in the fourth quarter. McKenna Ross added 10 points as Ariana Florance finished with six points.
Jordan Phillips had three points and Megan Racine with two in the win.
OV’s Mackenzie Reandeau and Miranda Hackett both finished with six points. Hackett knocked in two three-pointers. Lilly Palmer added four points as Bella Sayles, Skyler Graham, Abby White, and Emma Rooker all had two points each in the loss.
Afton (3-3) stays home to host Unadilla Valley on Friday at 7:15 p.m as OV (0-4) hosts Cincinnatus on Friday at 6 p.m.
