EARLVILLE – In May The Wild Bunch Café opened its doors at 1 North Main Street in Earlville, and since then, owners Jeannine Engelbrecht and Scott Fallon have worked hard to served coffee, food and treats to Earlville locals.
“The community has been very supportive,” said Engelbrecht. “We are steady because of them.” Engelbrecht explained that her goal is to offer low prices, steady routine and consistency to keep customers coming back. “We want families to be able to afford to come out and eat,” she said. “We are hoping to get all items priced under $10.” In addition, every week on “Back in My Day” Tuesdays, they offer $1 stacks of pancakes and free coffee when you sit in the restaurant.
The café offers breakfast and lunch all day, a variety of baked goods from local vendors, and a showcase spot for local artists. “We try to support local,” Engelbrecht said. In addition, they have a variety of specialty drinks including boba teas.
“My favorite part is helping the community,” Fallon said. “I love the people. The regulars. This is like home away from home.” Engelbrecht added that they love to participate in community events and activities whenever possible. Recently, the café celebrated the holidays by holding a Breakfast with the Grinch event. “We’re focused on being family oriented,” Engelbrecht said.
Fallon and Engelbrecht started working on the space last January. In order to get ready to open the business, they put a lot of energy into refreshing the space. They painted, cleaned and brought in every piece of furniture and equipment that is currently in the store. The couple got the idea to open a café because they wanted to be able to do something together. Engelbrecht had previous experience volunteering at a local diner and when the store front became available, the couple moved forward with their plans.
While the business is still relatively new, Engelbrecht said she hopes to be able to expand within the next year. Eventually adding additional hours and more seating for customers.
Currently, The Wild Bunch Café is open from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday.
