SHERBURNE —The Sherburne-Earlville Timberwolves girls' basketball team took the court on Monday night to open the 2025-26 season, taking on Brookfield. Following JV's win, the Lady Timberwolves varsity team shined on Kevin Vibbard Court, picking up the 51-24 victory.
S-E had a strong first quarter, outscoring Brookfield 12-2, before slowing things down to lead 18-9 at halftime. The Timberwolves powered up in the second half, where they secured the victory, outscoring the Beavers 33-15 in the final two quarters.
S-E's defense forced 40 turnovers and collected 22 team steals.
Morgan Mikalunas, a key returner for S-E, led the team with a career-best 25 points with 16 points in the final two quarters. She also had eight steals.
Kendall Hill, another great asset to the Lady Timberwolves, took home the team's Big Dawg Big Energy Player of the Game award after netting a career-high 13 points, four steals, and created a team-high seven defensive tie ups that resulted in jump balls.
Other key returners Peyton Darragh, Cora Franklin, and Savanna Hook saw good playing time as well. Darragh had six points as Franklin added three and Hook with two points.
Eighth grader Brynn Shaver also had two points and a team-high eight rebounds while Franklin added seven rebounds.
