MORRIS - The Gatehouse Coffee Shop & Mercantile invites the community to experience a weekend filled with inspiration, connection, and creativity from Friday through Sunday, November 14–16.
From yoga and tastings to live music and fiber arts, The Gatehouse offers something for everyone who loves good food, great company, and the creative spirit of small-town life.
The weekend begins Friday morning (9–10 AM) with Yoga with Alyx Braunius, a moving meditation designed to restore balance and calm. Beginning with guided breathwork and meditation, Alyx leads a mindful vinyasa flow concluding with restorative postures. Inspired by her yoga studies in Thailand, her teaching fosters strength, flexibility, and compassion—on and off the mat. Suggested donation: $15. Please bring your own mat.
On Saturday afternoon (1–3 PM), The Gatehouse hosts “Easy Appetizers: Holiday Tips & Tastings,” a flavorful event celebrating effortless entertaining. Guests will sample seasonal small plates and curated beverage pairings while learning practical, artful ways to host this holiday season. Led by local food enthusiast Teresa DeLaurentiis, the tasting highlights favorite products from The Gatehouse Mercantile with approachable recipes and creative presentation ideas. Tickets: $25 per person (includes exclusive shop discounts).
The celebration continues Saturday evening (6 PM) with live music from the Killdeer Trio, an acclaimed local group blending jazz, rock, and improvisation. Opening performances by Shira Small and Adam Cooper set the tone for an unforgettable night of creativity and collaboration. Suggested donation: $15.
Start your Sunday with intention and balance (8–9 AM) in a Hatha Yoga class with Mira Wind. Perfect for all levels, Mira guides participants through gentle poses, deep stretches, and mindful breathing to promote balance and relaxation—embracing the peaceful energy of Sunday mornings. $15 per person. Please bring your own mat.
Later that day, enjoy the vibrant sounds of Trio Afinado (1–3 PM), bringing the warmth of Brazil to The Gatehouse with choro, bossa nova, and samba favorites. At the same time, the Fiber Arts Guild meets in the lounge, welcoming knitters, crocheters, and fiber enthusiasts of all levels to connect and create in a cozy, inspiring space.
“We love seeing The Gatehouse come alive with such a range of experiences,” says co-owner Tim Atticus. “This weekend captures what our community is all about—connection through creativity.”
Located in the heart of Morris, The Gatehouse is a gathering place for community, creativity, and good taste. In addition to its artisanal coffee and local fare, The Gatehouse hosts year-round workshops, tastings, and events celebrating food, art, and lifestyle.
