CHENANGO COUNTY — Following the conclusion of the 2025 regular season, the Oxford/Greene football team reflects on its inaugural year as a merged program. The decision to combine the two schools’ football teams was positive and mutual, made before the start of the school year. Coaches Jason Lyon and James Wrench, both bringing valuable experience, were named co-head coaches to help lead the program and establish a strong foundation. The new team brought together talented players with football experience from both schools.

Although Oxford/Greene did not win a game this season, the team made a lasting impression on their communities by demonstrating unity and collaboration.

Coach Wrench spoke on behalf of himself, Coach Lyon, and the entire OG football team:

"We're most proud of bringing two former rival programs, each with a wide variety of personalities and talents, together to focus on improvement," Wrench said. "There was no inter-team fighting. The kids, families, and communities all came together to support each other. Everyone involved seems excited and is looking forward to long-term success with the merged program."

As the merger is expected to continue next season and beyond, Wrench remains optimistic about the future:

"As far as setting the tone for next year, I think this season has given us all, coaches and players, a good idea of what we need to focus on both during and outside of the season," Wrench added. "We have a clear understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of our returning players, coaches, and system. We know we must all work diligently to improve for next season and beyond."

Good season, Oxford/Greene football, and best of luck to the seniors.
