OXFORD - Just as the last of the fall colors recede and morning frosts become more common, the Oxford Farmers’ Market moves to the warmth of indoors to begin its Winter Market season. This Saturday, November 1, will be the launch of the Market’s 12th year indoors. This cozy and friendly community Market features an abundance of locally grown and produced food, beautifully-made artisan crafts, hot food, and live music performed this week by musician and composer, George Anderson.
Twice a month, November through April, the Market provides access to some of the best local foods available, Indoors on the first Saturday of every month and through their Online Marketplace on both the first and third Saturdays.
"Locally raised and produced food is the very heart of this Market,” says volunteer organizer, Trellan Smith. “We are all committed to supporting local farmers, producers and artisans, believing that when we invest in locally produced goods, we invest in a moral economy, one we can be proud to uphold and one that helps us weather the storms."
Vendors selling indoors and through the Online Marketplace this week will be offering loads of fresh seasonal produce; locally raised beef, pork, lamb, chicken (and taking orders for Thanksgiving turkeys); local cheeses and dairy; fresh-baked goods, local maple syrup, honey and jam; and fine artisan crafts.
The Oxford Winter Farmers’ Market is held from 10 am - 12:30 pm in the Fellowship Hall of the United Church of Oxford, 16 Fort Hill Park. Enter on Merchant Street across from the Middle School parking lot where there are lots of great parking spots.
