SALL Tri County 12U softball walks off to defeat Stockbridge in championship

DERUYTER — The Sherburne Area Little League Tri County 12 and under softball team faced Stockbridge in the league championship game. The game came down to the wire on Friday at DeRuyter Fairgrounds, as SALL Tri County 12U grabbed the victory in walk-off fashion, 7-6, over Stockbridge. The game was tied at six in the bottom of the seventh when a dropped third strike scored one run.

SALL Tri County 12U rallied for the victory despite trailing 4-0 in the first. Stockbridge jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after an error scored one run, Ava drew a walk, scoring one run, and Katie drew a walk, scoring one run.

SALL Tri County 12U jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning after Bella W singled up the middle, Adalelynn L stole home, and SALL Tri County 12U scored on a passed ball, each scoring one run.

Natalie E earned the win for SALL Tri County 12U. The hurler allowed zero hits and one run (zero earned) over four innings, striking out 12 and walking three. Bella led things off in the circle for SALL Tri County 12U. The pitcher surrendered zero hits and five runs (two earned) over three innings, striking out eight and walking seven.

Bella and Adalelynn were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected one hit for SALL Tri County 12U. Caroline L paced SALL Tri County 12U with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, tallying 10 walks for the game. A’miyah M stole two bases. SALL Tri County 12U ran wild on the base paths, tallying seven stolen bases for the team.
