BAINBRIDGE — On a cold Saturday afternoon, the Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats and the Oxford Blackhawks girls’ soccer teams faced off for the fourth time this season as they met once again for sectionals. B-G advances to the Section IV, Class C semifinals after defeating Oxford 3-1.

All of the scoring occurred in the first half of play with both teams battling back-and-forth on defense and both goalies making tough saves.

B-G’s Tori Suda led the team with two headers for goals on corner kicks with assists by Jaylin Henderson. Keelan Ammon also scored for B-G with an assist by Breanna Casey.

Danica Park made 11 saves in the victory.

Oxford’s Jayne Fleury scored on a direct kick for the team’s lone goal as Jenna Denz made 13 saves in the loss.

B-G advances to take on the second-seed Elmira Notre Dame on Wednesday afternoon.

Following the game, Oxford’s Coach Rachel Seiler shared some final thoughts on the season.

“ The girls capped off the season with a strong finish, mirroring the grit, determination, and heart that characterized their opening performances,” she said. “Bainbridge was a talented and well-coached opponent, and we expected a tough contest. Although we did not secure a win, our team demonstrated unrelenting spirit until the final whistle.”

Seiler added how proud she is of the girls this season as well.

“The coaching staff is extremely proud of our team’s performance this season,” she said. “Throughout the season, the girls displayed exceptional teamwork, sportsman ship, and consistenly lifted each other up. The coaches want to thank our seniors; Peyton, Emmalee, Lily, and Colette, and eagerly anticipate the future achievements of our program.”
